Our Bystander at Work ™ programme provides participants with the knowledge and skills to intervene effectively to promote gender equality, inclusivity and equality at work. Bystander at Work is bespoke, evidence-led, and always rooted in the values of the organizations we work with. By starting ‘values-based’, we build a positive group cultures where people feel empowered to look out for one another. As research demonstrates, when one person intervenes it changes the ‘group norm’ – it shows others that it’s okay to speak-up and deters would-be perpetrators from harmful behavior.
What we offer
Our Bystander at Work ™ programme is an evidence-based bystander training for all levels of the organisation. We often hear from the prospective clients that staff are already noticing certain behaviour and talk as harmful but are stuck on how to effectively challenge or respond to it. We provide participants with the knowledge and skills to intervene effectively to promote equality, inclusivity and diversity in workplaces. Bystander at Work harnesses the power of the group membership and shared values of the organisation to create a culture where people feel empowered to look out for one another and promote an equitable workplace.
Bystander at work is not an off-the- shelf package. Depending on your requirements we will use focus-groups, surveys and/or meet staff at all levels to determine needs, strengths and goals. We use this to create a bespoke training package which is rigorously evaluated.
Effective culture change comprises a range of elements. In addition to our core component of bystander training, we offer:
- Ongoing bystander community of practice support
- Bespoke senior leadership bystander training
- Speak Out Champion training
- Consultancy on communications / campaigns strategy and anonymous reporting tools
- Policy and procedures review / consultancy
We also offer a specific training for Domestic Abuse through our Active Bystander Communities ™ programme which can be run in workplaces to train staff, HR professionals, senior managers and Domestic Abuse Champions.

The business case
Equality a as goal speaks for itself – and it’s better for business and innovation. Research on equality and diversity at work shows:
- A diverse organisation is more innovative – diverse voices and ideas enable organisations to think outside the box.
- Diverse organisations have higher employee engagement and are better at retaining talent
- Diversity and inclusion boosts creativity and productivity
- People vote with their money. Inclusive and diverse organisations are favoured by consumers, who are likely to choose competitors if they better reflect their values.
- As well as consumers, investors are more attracted to diverse organisations. Diversity is now used as a metric for business success.
- This means good things for your bottom line. Organisations with more diverse executive teams are more likely to have better financial returns than their competitors.
This list is also by no means exhaustive. Get in touch if you would like to learn more about how equality, diversity, and inclusion can benefit your organisation or community.
